Belt Loop Extender: Polypropylene, Nylon, Diamond
Pad Sharpener, Magnesium/Firesteel Firestarter
Knife: My client requested this fine
custom Macha Navigator with a
thick, deeply hollow ground blade in high molybdenum ATS-34
martensitic stainless tool steel for great toughness as well as high
wear resistance and substantial corrosion resistance and a bead
blasted non-glare finish. The blade has
a razor sharp edge, with 2
inches of my Vampire Rip Teeth serrations for tough
cutting chores. The blade is thick and extremely
strong, as it is ground from 1/4" thick stock, with a
two-thirds length
top swage to reduce the point profile without sacrificing spine
strength. The knife blade has full and
pronounced sunrise filework throughout the spine, the fully
tapered tang, and inside the handle all the way to the deep choil. The
knife is bolstered with zero-care bead blasted high nickel, high
chromium 304 stainless steel
bolsters, which are dovetailed and secured with zero clearance
peened pins for absolute permanence. The front bolster is sculpted
at the face for better support of the wide thumb ramp and sheath locking
groove, and the rear bolster has a 5/16" through-tang chamfered
lanyard hole for extra security when needed. The handle has bedded and
pinned solid Olive hardwood handle scales, a very hard, tough wood
that is naturally resinous and self-sealing. The Olive is smooth and
silky to hold, and its light color compliments the gray stainless
steels well. The knife feels very substantial and meaty in the hand,
with the balance point at the forefinger. The knife has a great grip
profile, comfortable in both forward and reverse grip styles.
Sheath: I've made one of my fine locking,
waterproof tactical sheaths for this knife, probably the best
tactical combat knife sheath style made anywhere. While most makers
use a single thickness kydex (.060"), I use kydex that is (.125"),
twice that thick for strength, durability, stability, and longevity.
The kydex is hot-formed over a 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high
strength aluminum welt frame, secured with 304 stainless steel
Chicago screws and waterproof cement. The sheath has all stainless
steel locking components in 302, 304, and 316 austenitic stainless
steel for low-care, high corrosion resistance, and durability while
positively locking the knife in the sheath. Even the machine screws
and reinforcements are stainless steel. 1.75" wide belt loops are
die-formed, in high strength, corrosion resistant aluminum, and are reversible for
versatile wear in any position. The belt loops can also be relocated
at the sheath tail, for inverted wear in a variety of positions.
Ultimate Extender: My client
requested an additional option: my ultimate sheath belt
loop extender with full accessory package. This allows a lower, more traditional
placement of the locking sheath on the belt, and will
accommodate thicker belts and belts up to 2.5" wide, and
includes the anti-flop shock cord with nickel plated steel snap retention,
the diamond pad sharpener, and the magnesium-Firesteel
fire starter. Learn more about these useful accessories
