"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
Named for a star in the constellation Lepus (the Rabbit) this is a legacy knife pattern originally designed by Gerry Hurst. This knife is an older/early work of mine; note the maker's mark. I don't make many small knives, but the Nihal is a workable, clean design. Just under 6.5" (16.5 cm) length overall and with a 2.5" (6.4 cm) blade, this Nihal has a mirror polished O1 high carbon tungsten-vanadium tool steel blade, hot blued for a jet black glassy appearance. The blade has full filework, and bolsters of 304 austenitic high nickel, high chromium stainless steel. The handle is Wonderstone Jasper, actually a rhyolite with swirls and twists of reds, oranges, and sunset colors. The sheath is hand-stamped, hand-stitched leather shoulder, dyed black. A great working knife or collector's piece.
