"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
Custom made for a United States Air Force Pararescueman for his Combat Search and Rescue use, this Paraeagle is one of my standard CSAR workhorse designs. This particular knife is made of hollow ground and mirror polished 440C high chromium stainless steel, with plenty of belly and a thick, strong spine to support the blade. The blade is custom etched on the reverse in high resolution detail. The design has a large and substantial forefinger quillon at the ricasso, protecting the hand from sliding onto the blade, and a deep forefinger groove for certain grip. The full tang knife has a fully tapered tang for weight balance, and is bolstered front and rear with polished nickel silver corrosion resistant bolsters, dovetailed and contoured for comfort. The rear bolster has a useful 5/16" diameter through-tang lanyard hole for extra security if needed, and the handle scales are striking and tough Cordia hardwood, also called Bocote. The sheath for the knife is one of my tension fit models in double thickness kydex thermoformed over a 5052H32 corrosion resistant, high strength aluminum welt frame secured with blued steel Chicago screws. The sheath is equipped with a convenient nickel plated steel belt clip for quick and handy placement of the sheath. This is a great, tough, and proven CSAR knife.
