"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
This Pecos II is a palm knife design, and this individual knife was custom ordered to be a neck knife, a knife worn on a breakaway chain or cord around the neck. The client liked the small design of the palm handle, just large enough to be held in the palm of the hand. This knife has a slightly upswept trailing point blade, a nice hollow grind, and is thin and sharp in mirror polished ATS-34 high molybdenum martensitic stainless steel for great toughness. The blade has full filework with a square punctuated pattern, and is bolstered by 304 austenitic stainless steel bolsters. The tang is tapered, and the bolsters are dovetailed and bed a pair of Black Jade gemstone handle scales. The jade is custom engraved deeply with the clients personal Kanji.
The sheath for this knife is an unusual one, designed to be worn around the neck, handle down. I made this one out of thin and light Concealex thermoforming acrylic/PVC and it is adhesively bonded and mechanically reinforced with steel rivets. Not my usual fare, the sheath is lightweight and secure, and the knife is locked in the sheath with a tab that is flexed sideways to allow the knife to be extracted.
A great custom neck knife.
Thanks, I.W.!
