"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
The Santa Fe design is a very old style and pattern of mine, originally based in what we called a boot knife in the early 1980s. The description is of a knife that is slender enough to wear inside a western boot, and the name for any small to medium sized knife with a slender blade and profile seems to carry on. The knife is not necessarily a defensive weapon, and this medium sized blade is elegant and useful for many cutting chores. This knife has a 440C high chromium martensitic stainless steel blade, hollow ground and mirror polished, with full and intricate filework and a tapered full tang handle. The knife is bolstered with high nickel, high chromium 304 austenitic stainless steel for absolute corrosion resistance and handled with rare yellow and green Orbicular Jasper (Ocean Jasper) gemstone. This stone has beautiful pattern and is very hard and takes and keeps a very high lustrous polish. The knife has a commensurate sheath with Teju (Tegu) Lizard skin inlays in hand-carved leather shoulder, and is designed for a left side wear, cross draw position. A beautiful ensemble.
