"Vindicator" with Lapis Lazuli Gemstone handle |
This striking and unusual Kerambit is a huge piece of edged art. With a 7 inch long blade, and a full length of over 11.25 inches, the Titan cuts an imposing figure. The knife is double edged, double hollow ground, and mirror finished 440C high chromium martensitic stainless steel for the highest corrosion resistance and brightest finish of any tool steel. The grinds are accomplished with a 3" diameter contact wheel, so they are very thin at the cutting edge while leaving plenty of 1/4" thick spine to support the knife blade. Of special importance is the concave hollow ground edge, something that is very rare in the knife world, both contemporary and in the past, because of the great difficulty in execution. The top straight edge has three inches of my Vampire rip teeth serrations, and the choils of both knives are deeply defined. The entire blade is fileworked and engraved, the tang is fully tapered for balance, and the knife tang has a rear finger ring, polished inside and out, with a persuader talon at the butt. The knife has 304 austenitic high nickel, high chromium stainless steel bolsters that are hand-engraved in a pattern that matches the curves of the blade and lines of the knife, and the handle scales are striking Crazy Lace Agate gemstone. The stone is very hard and glassy, the patterns within are intricate and detailed. The sheath has multiple inlays of burgundy Ostrich leg skin in 9 - 10 oz. leather shoulder, hand-stitched, in a design that allows a view of the handle with snap-strap retention. A magnificent Kerambit.
